On a day in which both presidential campaigns focused all their rhetorical might on debating energy production, Barack Obama claimed the most iconic moment. The quote was so lacerating, John McCain’s own campaign sent it out immediately to reporters, with the obvious hope that it would damage the Illinois Democrat.
But given Obama’s apparent good humor — and the fact that McCain aides had been twisting the truth on Obama’s energy policy all day long — it’s far from clear that the GOP can spin the line their way.
